If you talk with your patients about hearing loss, are they hearing you? Most people do not like to admit that they have trouble hearing, but hearing loss can be dangerous to their health. It can increase the chances of falls, loneliness, depression, dementia, and even early death. People with hearing loss are more likely to have hospital readmissions simply because they couldn’t hear the discharge instructions. Hearing loss can be a part of the conversations you have with patients and it won’t take too long.
